Research

The broad-ranging research at the University of Gothenburg is innovative, characterised by multidisciplinary cooperation, closely linked to education and stands in close contact with society. Our 3000 researchers, teachers and doctoral students span from developmental biology and gender studies to logistics and marine mammals. The University’s list of renowned researchers includes Nobel Laureate in Medicine or Physiology Arvid Carlsson (2000).

  • Watching films on a small screen has an impact on comprehension and immersion

    [14 Oct 2019] How does the experience of watching a film on a smartphone differ from watching it on the big screen in a cinema? This has been investigated in an experiment and the findings indicate that the viewing situation has an impact on comprehension and immersion in the film's narrative, and even on the viewer's empathy with the fictional characters as well.

  • Different views on vaginal birth after previous caesarean section (VBAC)

    [14 Oct 2019] There is considerable variations in different countries´ health care systems and professionals in the views on vaginal birth after previous caesarean section (VBAC), according to a European study. However, women¿s´ views are more similar in the different countries.
